‘Register 70% of students under APAAR by Jan 20’
Panaji: After Dec 9 and 10 were observed as APAAR (Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry) Diwas in the state to push for the registration of students under the new central system, the directorate of education (DoE) has set targets for schools to achieve APAAR registrations.
According to the new deadline, all schools must commence the APAAR ID generation process by Dec 20 and generate at least 5% of APAAR IDs by the date.
Pre-primary and primary schools have been told that they have to achieve a minimum of 70% APAAR ID generation by Jan 20. For middle and high schools, the target set for the APAAR ID generation is a minimum of 70% by Jan 15.
The DoE has said that higher secondary schools have to achieve a minimum of 80% APAAR ID generation by Jan 6.
APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit identifier assigned to every student enrolled in schools across India.
It serves as a digital locker for students’ academic achievements, including exam results, certificates, and co-curricular accomplishments.
APAAR ID streamlines and simplifies admissions and allows students to access and manage their academic records digitally. It makes the transfer of credits easy when the student shifts schools anywhere in the country.
The Mega APAAR Diwas was observed in Goa on Dec 9 and 10 to accelerate the generation of APAAR IDs. Shailesh Zingade, the director of education, said that APAAR IDs will enhance efficiency and transparency in the education system.
The event provided a platform for school heads to raise concerns and seek clarifications on the APAAR ID process. Officials addressed misconceptions and provided technical assistance to ensure a seamless implementation.
A dedicated dashboard was also launched to provide real-time insights into APAAR ID saturation at various levels. This dashboard will allow stakeholders to monitor progress.
The Mega APAAR Diwas saw a surge in the number of APAAR IDs generated from 25,100 to 41,600 in a single day. Officials provided guidance on issues such as website responsiveness, name mismatches, and subject group unavailability in the Unified District Information System for Education.
