Reduce delay in property registration at sub-registrar’s office: Realtors

Panaji: The Goa Association of Realtors (GAR) has red-flagged the constant delays in the registration process at the sub-registrar’s office, which has been causing resentment among property buyers and sellers, aside from revenue losses to the exchequer.

GAR has also welcomed transfers and reshuffle among the civil-cum-sub registrars and has thanked chief minister Pramod Sawant for his intervention which resulted in reshuffle.

A GAR delegation along with members from the National Association of Realtors (NAR-INDIA) met Sawant to discuss the concerns and challenges that the real estate sector faces in Goa.

“Under the discussion, among other matters, was the constant delays in the registration process, which has been causing resentment to property buyers and sellers and revenue losses to the government. Sawant had assured to look into the matter on an urgent basis and ensured a quick resolution,” said chairman of GAR Amit Chopra.

Chopra said that law minister Nilesh Cabral and state registrar Ashutosh Apte had made similar assurances about addressing the delays. The authorities have also promised to renovate the office of the Civil-Cum-Sub Registrar at Mapusa.

Meanwhile, GAR held its installation ceremony for its fourth governing council recently where the top brass of the National Association of Realtors (NAR-INDIA) were in attendance.

Chopra has been appointed as the chairman, while Keshav Prabhu has been appointed as the president of GAR. Raj Mehta and Hemant Gogia have been elected as the two vice-presidents.
