Panaji: Presenting facts about the controversial issue of River Mhadei and bringing to light the implications of the dispute for the state of Goa, a public talk and interaction titled, 'Mhadei river dispute: Implications for Goa' will be organized on February 11 from 5 to 6.30pm at International centre, Goa (ICG).
Chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar will be the chief guest at the programme, while advocate general of Goa, ANS Nadkarni, will chair the talk-cum-interaction.
A presentation will be made by water resources department chief engineer, ST Nadkarni.
The water dispute is currently before the Mhadei water disputes tribunal for a hearing. Concerns have been raised by people who consider the river to be the lifeline of Goa, saying that the proposed diversion of River Mhadei by Karnataka will affect the life of the people as well as the rich biodiversity of the state.
