Professional degree intake process for 2025-26 in mid-May
Panaji: The process of admissions to professional degree programmes in Goa for the academic year 2025-26 will begin mid-May. The directorate of technical education (DTE) plans to call for the filling of admission forms for engineering, medical, dentistry, nursing and other graduate programmes only after the second JEE and the NEET are held.
This year, the state board held the Class XII exam much earlier than usual, and the results are also expected earlier than normal. But, even then, the admission process to professional programmes will not be advanced, officials said.
“The second JEE is scheduled to be held in April and NEET in the first week of May. Only after these exams, the DTE will call for applications for admissions. This is because we do not want to disturb students with the process of filling of admission forms while they are preparing for the exams,” said an official.
In 2024, the state test for professional programmes was retired and admissions to engineering and pharmacy degree seats were held for the first time based on the Joint Entrance Exam [JEE(Main)], and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) scores in Goa.
Meanwhile, the admissions to the postgraduate allied health programmes like physiotherapy at Goa Medical College for the academic year 2024-25 are yet to begin. Officials said that the GMC has asked that the DTE carry out the admissions to the programmes from now on.
