‘Pooja Naik induced woman to pay Rs 6 lakh’

Panaji: A fourth case has been registered against Pooja Naik, a resident of Old Goa, in connection with an alleged cash-for-jobs scam, at the Panaji police station.

Complainant Sushma Sadashiv Naik, a resident of Calapur, Tiswadi, said that between Sep 5 and 9, 2020, Pooja induced her to pay Rs 6 lakh on the pretext of securing her a govt job, said Panaji PI Vijaykumar Chodankar.

The complainant paid the amount on different occasions, but the accused failed to fulfil the promise, said Chodankar, adding that the accused also failed to return the money. Panaji police registered the case under Section 420 (cheating) of the IPC.
