Police registers two FIRs in illegal hill cutting at Tuem

, Pernem.

The office of the deputy collector at Pernem has written to the North Goa collector that directives have been issued to the Pernem mamlatdar, Pernem deputy town and country planner, and Pernem police inspector to hold an inspection and submit a detailed report on massive hill cutting carried out in Soniem-Paliem in Tuem.

As per the mamlatdar’s report dated January 8, hill cutting of 360 sqm has been carried out at the site. The report received by the Pernem deputy collector from the TCP states that illegal hill cutting has been carried out in the property bearing survey number 141/0 of Tuem village. The report also states that hill cutting has been carried out having a length of 45m, breadth of 4m and average height of 10m. It is also reported that the hill cutting has been carried out for about 30m, breadth of 6m and average height of 3m. The TCP department, Pernem, states that it has not issued any permission under Section 17-A of TCP Act for hill cutting.

Considering the TCP report, the Pernem deputy collector has issued a showcause notice to the party concerned with the direction to remain present before the authority on January 25. The deputy collector has also directed the respondent and their agent, acting on their behalf, to stop henceforth the illegal hill cutting, mud, rubble excavation and use of land for non-agricultural purpose in the property surveyed under 141/0 of Tuem village.

said that Pernem police has written a letter to TCP asking for the names against whom the offence is to be registered.
