Vasco police book juvenile rider, bike owner

VASCO: Vasco police have registered an offence against the juvenile rider and motorcycle owner in the fatal accident case at New Vaddem, Vasco on Monday. The duo has been booked under Sections 279, 337 and 304 read with 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
On Monday, a woman, Mamata Shetye, 56, was killed while crossing the road at New Vaddem when the two-wheeler rider allegedly dashed her.
Police inspector Kapil Nayak attached to Vasco police station said that, “Apart from registering a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the 16-year-old rider, both the boy and owner of the motorcycle Sanjay Naik, 23, a resident of Queenynagar, Velsao-Pale, Vasco police also have registered an offence under Sections 3, 4, 5 and 180, 199 (A), sub-section (2) of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act in the case.
The police have attached the two-wheeler and admitted the child in conflict with law at Apna Ghar Merces, while the motorcycle owner was arrested and remanded in 14 days judicial custody.
