Police arrest wife of main accused in multi-crore scam
Panaji: The crime branch of Goa police on Tuesday arrested Deepali Parab, 42, a resident of Mumbai and the wife of Myron Rodrigues, in connection with an alleged multi-crore investment scam. Rodrigues is the main accused in the scam, which involved cheating a large number of investors to the tune of crores.
“The arrest of Parab was made after a thorough investigation revealed that she was actively involved in the fraudulent activities and played a crucial role in the scam,” crime branch SP Rahul Gupta said.
He said the investigation revealed that the main accused and his wife cheated investors by promising them high returns. “The accused collected crores of rupees from innocent investors, which they misappropriated for personal gain,” he said.
Parab was arrested in the case registered at the Economic Offences Cell (EOC) of Goa police, and she will be produced before a magistrate on Wednesday for a remand hearing. Gupta said that the EOC case is under investigation by the crime branch.
Gupta also said that the ex-wife of the main accused, Sunita Rodrigues, was arrested and released on bail. She was subsequently taken into custody by the MHB Colony police station for her involvement in the alleged cheating case, Gupta said.
“Parab is also wanted in the MHB Colony police station case,” Gupta added.
