Plastic collection drive at Colva today
The Colva Civic and Consumer Forum (CCCF) will organise a plastic collection drive on September 14, from 8.30 am to 1.30 pm.
Plastic bottles and bags will be collected from every house in the wards of Grande Vanelim, Tolloi and Villanova.
The plastic collection drive seeks to create awareness among the villagers that garbage needs to be managed with the involvement of tourists in a systematic manner by adopting segregation of dry and wet waste at source.
The CCCF also proposes to organise such drives in October and November, in order to develop a regular plastic collection program by involving the village panchayats of Sernabatim, Vanelim, Colva and Gandaulim.
A detailed report of the drive will be sent to director of panchayats Menino D'Souza, Michael D'Souza, director of the department of science and technology, and director of tourism Elvis Gomes.
