Pissurlem locals fight pollution

BICHOLIM: Pissurlem villagers have requested opposition leader Pratapsingh Rane to initiate action against companies polluting their village.
The lcoals raised this issue during a recently-held special meeting of the Pissurlem village panchayat, which was attended by Rane.
During the meeting, a villager, Deepak Parab, informed Rane about a tyre manufacturing company, operating in the village, which was a major source of pollution.Stating that the company was causing hardships to the locals, he requested the former chief minister to look into the matter.
Rane instructed the panchayat to check if the company had any valid documents from the pollution control board, and if it didn’t, to send a report, initiating action against the company, to the state government.
