PFI is Cong’s B-team: BJP

Margao: Senior BJP functionary, Shaikh Jina, on Thursday, condemned the statements made by some members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) against chief minister Pramod Sawant after the latter voiced his opinion in favour of banning the organisation.

Addressing reporters at the party’s South Goa district office in Margao, Jina said, “BJP government led by chief minister Pramod Sawant has done a lot of work for the upliftment of poor people, but has never discriminated on the basis of religion. PFI is promoting communal disharmony.”

PFI had taken exception to Sawant’s statement that the government will never allow religious conversions in the state and asking people to be vigilant. Jina also accused PFI of being a ‘B’ party of Congress.

He further pointed out that while BJP has always supported Urdu-medium schools run by Muslim organisations by providing “lot of funds,” such support was never forthcoming during the Congress government.
