Pay to park near Taleigao church and in market area
Panaji: The North Goa district magistrate has notified designated pay-parking zones for two-wheelers and four-wheelers within the jurisdiction of the Taleigao village panchayat.
The regulations will apply to areas in front of the cemetery of St Michael’s Church and on either sides of the road near Taleigao market at ward 8, Sao Paul.
The parking rates for two-wheelers are Rs 5 for up to 4 hours, Rs 10 for between 4 and 12 hours, and Rs 15 for between 12 hours and less than 24 hours. For four-wheelers, the rate is Rs 20 for up to 4 hours, with an additional charge of Rs 15 for every extra hour or part thereof.
Parking attendants engaged in collecting fees will be required to wear proper uniforms and must display photo ID cards with unique identification numbers. They will also carry a certified copy of the rate chart issued by the authority concerned, which should be shown to motorists upon request.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the parking slips or receipts issued will bear the official letterhead of the village panchayat of Taleigao along with contact details of the village panchayat officer responsible, and the pay-parking contractor. This measure is also intended to facilitate the lodging and redressal of grievances by the public.
The panchayat and the pay-parking contractor have been instructed to reserve at least two parking spaces for emergency vehicles in each four-wheeler parking area at all times. Also, one four-wheeler parking space will be exclusively reserved for persons with disabilities.
