MARGAO: The blame game over the condition of roads in Margao continues as chief minister
Manohar Parrikar issued strict directives on Saturday for the eastern bypass road to be repaired immediately.
It maybe recalled that a group of
BJP leaders from Margao visited the chief minister's office on Tuesday complaining about the quality of roads.
Following this, Parrikar had directed the PWD to instruct the contractors to repair the roads.
On Wednesday, BJP leader Sharmad Raiturkar blamed former chief minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat for failing to complete the road works even as the PWD blamed other agencies such as the sewerage department for leaving the roads in its present condition.
Kamat slammed the BJP leaders for blaming him and claimed he had no role in the execution of works.
While the PWD assured to repair the roads before Friday, the work remained incomplete. On Saturday evening, when Parrikar was travelling on this road during his visit to South Goa, he immediately pulled up the PWD engineer and the contractor concerned for the slow pace of works.
Parrikar sought assurances from the engineer that the road works would be completed immediately. tnn
