SALIGAO: Parra villagers have objected to a mobile tower erected atop a building close to a public place in the village. Based on the complaints, an inspection of the tower was conducted by the Parra panchayat on Wednesday.
Parra locals claimed the tower could pose a serious health hazard for locals through its radiation. They said a medical clinic is alocated in the vicinity of the tower.
Parra sarpanch Delilah Lobo and panchayat secretary Rui Cardozo held the inspection amid police protection.
Locals, however, said they were unsatisfied. “It looked like the inspection was only a formality. Only photos of the tower were taken, whereas the height and distance of the tower had to be measured,” said A local Jack Fernandes.
Lobo declined to comment on the issue.
