Parents: Need re-exam of Class III maths paper
Canacona: At least 20 parents gave a representation to the assistant district educational inspector (ADEI), requesting a for Class III, citing the paper as particularly difficult.
Parents said they were not opposed to the , but students needed time to adjust to the new examination and education system.
Parent Pankaj Naik Gaonkar said the mathematics paper did not seem to be intended for Class III students — it appeared more like one for UPSC aspirants and was likely given to them by mistake.
Another parent said the pattern of model question papers did not match the actual ones, which were too difficult for 8–9-year-old Class III students.
Some other parents said that the question papers were beyond the thinking capacity and comprehension of students, especially in mathematics. The complex words used in the question paper confused not only the children but also the parents and teachers.
The copies of the representation, signed by Priyanka Naik Gaonkar on behalf of the other parents, will be posted to the directorate of education (SCERT) chief minister, and education minister.
