One person booked for illegal hill cutting at Bethora

PONDA: Acting on a complaint filed by Ponda town planner Richard Caldeira, the Ponda police have registered a case of illegal hill cutting against Raghoba Gaonkar from Bethora in Ponda taluka on Saturday.
Ponda police said that the alleged hill cutting took place in March 2013 in survey number 189/1 in Bethora. "Based on the complaint, we have booked Gaonkar and he will be arrested soon for our investigation into the matter," a police source said.Police also admitted that they could not trace Gaonkar while committing the offence and they would record the statements of the property owners and witnesses who had witnessed the hill cutting. Ponda PSI Vijaynath Kavlekar is investigating the case.
