CANACONA: Canacona police recently arrested Mohan Lotlikar, a resident of Vasco working and residing at Palolem, for stealing three mobile handsets and cash from his roommates earlier this week.
While the phones cost 13,800, the cash totalled 480, police inspector (PI) Raju Raut Desai said.
Lotlikar, who'd been working as a security guard since January 2011 for Goa Intelligence Security Services, Canacona, had been absconding from the room he shared with other colleagues since Tuesday.
Unable to track him at his residence in Vasco, police finally traced him to a local hotel in Palolem.
Lotlikar has been charged under Section 380 (theft by servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, in another theft case, a window pane of a car was damaged and the stereo within the vehicle was stolen at Palolem on Wednesday night.
The car was parked outside the residence of Jedoge Fernandes at Palolem.
Police said the stereo was worth around 16,000, while the damage to the car is estimated at 10,000.
Police have registered an offence against unknown culprits under Section 427 (mischief) and 379 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigations are currently on.
