Old Goa accident kills 15-year-old, cops book mom for letting him ride
Panaji: Old Goa police on Saturday booked the mother of the 15-year-old boy who succumbed to injuries following a self-accident at Old Goa. The accident had occurred on Wednesday when the two-wheeler which the minor was riding hit a pedestrian.
The offence is registered based on the complaint filed by head constable Samir Naik.
Police said that on Wednesday, at around 5pm, the minor’s mother, who is the owner of the two-wheeler, allowed her son to ride her scooter.
Police said that the minor rode the two-wheeler in a rash and negligent manner while proceeding from Corlim towards Merces circle via Kadamba bypass road. When he reached near dargah at Old Goa, he hit a pedestrian who was walking on the road. As a result, the pedestrian, a senior citizen, sustained grievous injuries, and the minor rider also sustained injuries.
“While undergoing medical treatment, the minor succumbed to his injuries,” police said.
