Offence registered against constable for assault
Porvorim police station have registered a non-cognizable offence against Rupesh Naik, a police constable attached to Chapora coastal police station and others for allegedly assaulting complainant Sarvesh Korgaonkar.
The complaint states Naik, Morya Naik and Salim residents of Saloi in Salvador do Mundo on Sunday assaulted him over a verbal clash at a cricket match.
Police said Korgaonkar approached the police station on Monday to register the complaint and was immediately sent to the district hospital at Mapusa for a medical checkup. PI Brendon D’ Souza said that the report confirmed simple injuries on the victim’s body.
