Porvorim: Coming season, beach shack operators with permissions to erect temporary shacks will get an excise licence that will be valid for eight months— October to May.
Until last season, validity of temporary licences was limited to six months. Parsekar announced the change on Thursday.
It had been a long-pending demand by the shack owners. They sought an extension in the validity of the excise licence granted as the tourist season starts around September-October and stretches beyond six months.
Shack operators claim that excise licences with a validity of just six months put them at an inconvenience, with some choosing to shut down business early.
