In her complaint to the Colvale police, Ujwala Siddesh, 44, a resident of Revora, said that Uma allegedly duped her of Rs 4 lakh in July 2020 after promising to arrange a govt job for her husband.

Uma, who is a resident of Baina and operates a school bus service, now has four cases of cheating against her. Since she is suspected to have swindled many more people, there are likely to be more FIRs against her in the days to come.

“Many people who fell prey to Uma’s promises of jobs are now coming forward to register complaints. Her arrest has opened a Pandora’s box,” said Vasco PI, Kapil Nayak.

Vasco police had previously filed a chargesheet against Uma in the court of the judicial magistrate first class (JMFC), Vasco, in connection with another cheating case.

A second FIR of cheating was filed by the Vasco police against Uma on Wednesday, and yet another, on Thursday.
