Now, buy produce by differently-abled community online

Panaji: The differently-abled community in Goa is skilled in preparing handicrafts, art and bakery products however they don’t often find a platform to market their products.
In a bid to facilitate their income, an e-commerce platform on WhatsApp will be launched by the Disability Rights Association Goa (DRAG), where different items produced by members of the community will be sold.
“This platform will give an opportunity to persons with disabilities. Those who are self-employed and did not have a market to sell their products can now have one, by registering on this platform,” DRAG president, Avelino D’sa said.
So far, the platform has registered 25 persons with disabilities who sell paper bags, hand-made footwear, carpentry works, mugs, T-shirts and food items among other products.
In addition to these, the platform also has members of the community who engage in design, printing and photoshop whose services can be availed of through the WhatsApp number.
“We are hopeful that we will be able reach out to more members of the community to join the platform,” D’sa said.
