Quepem: Incidents of post-poll enmity that saw defacement of billboards with congratulatory messages during the last few days continued in Quepem with four persons assaulting a Congress supporter for bursting firecrackers in a public place to celebrate their candidate’s victory.
Rohit Maldaar, a resident of Colleamoddi, filed a complaint of assault at the Quepem police station.
Quepem MLA Altone D’Costa along with his supporters marched to the police station demanding immediate arrest of all four accused. One of the accused is an employee of the Quepem Municipal Council.
“I had burst fire crackers on February 10 to celebrate D’Costa’s victory, but after eight days, I was assaulted asking the reason for my celebration. They asked if I was Altone’s relative?” said Maldar in his complaint.
Saturday saw post-poll violence in Mormugao as political rival groups clashed during Holi celebrations. Several were arrested.
