National Institute of Oceanography technician booked for ‘private trade’ with GCA

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a technician working at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) for allegedly indulging in ‘private trade’

PANAJI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a technician working at the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) for allegedly indulging in ‘private trade’.
CBI sources said that the technician was associated with Goa Cricket Association (GCA) for preparing pitches for cricket matches and that the accused had received 26 lakh from GCA for preparing pitches at various places across the state.

While stating that from 2009 to 2013 the GCA had issued bearer cheques to the accused, CBI sources said that they have acted on a complaint and registered the case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and for indulging in private trade.
The CBI has issued a notice to GCA to provide details about the cheques issued to the NIO technician.
CBI sleuths also conducted a search at the house of the accused.
