‘Name oppn MLAs who sought land conversion’

Panaji: Calling town and country planning minister Vishwajit Rane’s bluff, opposition leader Yuri Alemao on Monday challenged Rane to release the names of the opposition MLAs who applied for land conversion.
“Show me that Yuri Alemao was involved in (conversion of) a single square metre or a single application in my name or a recommendation, let him show,” said Alemao.
Rane held a press conference a few days earlier where he said that the opposition leader submitted applications to BJP to get land converted. “Should I read out these details in assembly? They don’t want that,” Rane had said.
Alemao appeared to suggest that Rane was trying to divert attention from the high court’s verdict on Section 17(2) of the TCP Act.
“Let him name the opposition MLA. Let us not digress. When we ask this LAQ, it is postponed with the excuse that it is in high court. Last time, there was a question where we asked for details and the TCP minister stood up at the start and said that he cannot give details as the matter is sub-judice,” said Alemao.
