Music concert in honour of Kishori Amonkar soon

PANAJI: Musical concert Swara Zankar will be held on Sunday as a tribute to the renowned Hindustani classical vocalist, Gaan Saraswati Late Kishori Amonkar. Fondly known as tai, Kishori Amonkar was known primarily for her skillful singing of classical khayal songs set in the traditional ragas of Hindustani music. She also performed the lighter classical thumri repertoire, bhajan, devotional songs and film music.
At the concert, Pt Raghunandan Panshikar, disciple of Late Smt Kishori Amonkar will present Classical Vocal performance.Pt Mukesh Jadhav (Tabla) and Dattaraj Surlekar (Harmonium) will provide instrumental support. In the concluding session, Pt Atul Kumar Upadhye will present a violin recital with tabla accompaniment by Pt Mukesh Jadhav. The concert will be held on April 30 at 6.30 pm at Kala Academy, Panaji and is open to all music lovers.
