This is the second cheating case registered by police against the Patils. In his complaint, Gitesh Gopal Naik stated that on Nov 2, 2020, the accused induced him to pay Rs 18.4 lakh. He said he was promised a job in the RTO and his wife Sonali Naik was lured with a position in the electricity department.

Police said the complainant paid the money, trusting the woman and her son. However, the duo failed to fulfil the promise and did not return the money either.

The accused were booked by Vasco police under Section 420 read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Further investigation is being conducted by PI Kapil Nayak under the supervision of DySP, Vasco sub-division, Gurudas Kadam, and SP South Sunita Sawant.
