Minor sexually assaulted at Betalbatim, accused on run

Margao: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted in Betalbatim. Colva police registered a case against the suspect, who remains at large. The accused was identified as Jasom Telles, a resident of Betalbatim.

According to the complaint filed by the victim’s family, the alleged assaults occurred on May 17 and 18.

Police sources said the accused befriended the minor before taking her to an abandoned house in Nuvem, where the first assault occurred.

He subsequently took her to a guest house in Betalbatim, where he assaulted her for the second time.

Telles was booked under sections 137(2) (kidnapping) and 64(1) (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act, and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Police teams have been formed to nab the accused. Investigation is under way.
