PANAJI: A Mexican naval cadet fell overboard from the Mexican sail training ship (STS) Cuauhtemoc around 550 nautical miles off the coast of Goa. The India Navy has launched search and rescue operations with a Boeing P8I aircraft undertaking aerial search sorties from
INS Hansa
in Goa.
Naval officials said that search operations were being hampered by the monsoon weather.
Naval warship Teg which was enroute to Mumbai from Port Louis, Mauritius has been diverted to undertake search operations. Additionally, naval warship Mysore has sailed out from Mumbai and is likely to arrive in the area to complement the search and rescue operations.
The

was on its way to Mumbai for a port call.
It has been reported that the lady cadet was not donning lifesaving gear when she fell overboard, a naval official said.
