Metal falls during tank repair, residents unhurt

Vasco: The occupants of two houses, including a two-month-old infant, had a narrow escape when a heavy metal piece fell from the overhead water tank at New Vaddem.

The incident occurred recently during tank cleaning by PWD, when workers accidentally dropped a metal piece that crashed into two houses below.

The ward councillor informed transport minister Mauvin Godinho soon after the incident. The contractor covered the damage costs and assured that no such errors would be repeated.

“It was a grave error on the part of the PWD. The incident could have taken the lives of innocents, but all were safe and no casualties were reported,” said Godinho. He urged officials to inform residents in advance before initiating such dangerous work.
