Meet focuses on eco protection

PANAJI: The Goa Environment Protection Council (GEPC) met on Thursday at the Raj Bhavan under the chairmanship of governor Shivinder Singh Sidhu. Chief minister Digamber Kamat also attended. Sidhu stated that protection and conservation of environment is of paramount importance to attain sustainable as well as optimal utilization of natural resources and as such, GEPC should frequently meet, so as to understand the current scenario on various environmental issues and initiatives taken taken to mitigate them.
He also stressed that garbage disposal and waste management as well as sustainable mining should be accorded top priority, by adapting to an integrated approach.
