Meat shipment worth Rs 1.54L seized at Margao railway station

Margao: The Konkan railway police intercepted a large shipment of suspected bovine meat at Margao railway station’s parcel office on Sunday. The seized meat, weighing 514.5 kg and valued at approximately Rs 1.5 lakh, was reportedly transported illegally from Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, Delhi.
The accused, identified as Fayaz Ahmed Kengenavar, 37, a Karnataka native residing in Davorlim, Margao, was arrested for violating provisions of the Goa Animal Preservation Act and the Railway Act. The shipment was discovered to have been transported under false declaration and without mandatory documentation from competent authorities.

Police sources said that the meat was being transported in unhygienic conditions, rendering it unfit for human consumption. The operation was led by police inspector Sunil Gudlar, along with PSI Roosevelt Fernandes and police constables Shekh Irshad and Mohammad Hussain under the supervision of SP and dySP Konkan Railway.
Police sources said that the case is currently under investigation, and they are working to uncover potential links to larger trafficking operations.
