Marathi film festival from June 12

The Goa Marathi Film Festival will be back again this year to enthrall Marathi cine lovers. The festival will be held on June 12 and 13 and will be inaugurated at the hands of celebrated Marathi actor and director Sachin Pilgaonkar.

Panaji: The Goa Marathi Film Festival will be back again this year to enthrall Marathi cine lovers. The festival will be held on June 12 and 13 and will be inaugurated at the hands of celebrated Marathi actor and director Sachin Pilgaonkar.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at theatre I of the Maquinez palace on June 12 at 10am. 'Samantar' a film by renowned director Amol Palekar will be screened at the festival alongwith new releases like 'Kon Ahe Re Tikade', 'Rita' and 'Pangira,' chief minister Digambar Kamat informed at a press conference held on Tuesday.

"The most interesting part of the film festival this year is that directors and actors of the films being screened, which include well known names such as Amol Palekar, Dr Mohan Agashe, Renuka Shahane and Vijay Chauhan, will be present during the screening of their movies. They will later interact with the audience and discuss the film," Kamat said.
At the third Goa Marathi Film Festival, in all nine full length films and three short films will be screened during the two day long film festival organised by Vinsan Graphics.
The audience will get an opportunity to watch films like last year's national award winning film 'Nirop'and a premiere show of the film 'Janya' starring Omkar Barve and Reshma Shinde. Besides this, Goan film 'Hello Gandhe Sir!' has also been included in the festival's screening schedule.
The festival has been co-sponsored by the department of art and culture, Goa and organised by Goa Kala Academy, Entertainment Society of Goa
and Goa Tourism Development Corporation alongwith other private sponsors and private channel partners.
This year, the national award winner for best actor Upendra Limaye and Goan director of internationally acclaimed film 'Paltadcho Munis', Laxmikant Shetgaonkar, will be felicitated at the hands of Digambar Kamat and speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Pratapsingh Rane during the festival.
On the sidelines of the press conference, officials of the art and culture department informed that a special screening of the documentary film 'Karmayogi' on the life and works of nuclear scientist Dr Anil Kakodkar will be held for journalists at Maquinez Palace II at 3pm on June 10.
The film has been made by Goa Directorate of Art and Culture. Dnyanesh Moghe, director of the film, will be available for interaction after screening of the documentary.
