Mandovi bridge shut: Class XII students told to leave early for exam

Panaji: With the old Mandovi bridge closed for repairs, the traffic police have issued an advisory asking parents and students to leave early for the ongoing Class XII board examinations to avoid being late.

“Due to the closure of old Mandovi bridge, parents of the students answering Class XII board exams in and around Panaji and Porvorim area are requested to start early, so that students reach their examination centres in time. Motorists (except two-wheelers) from Porvorim side wanting to proceed towards South Goa and vice-versa, are requested to make use of Atal Setu to prevent congestion on the new Mandovi bridge,” SP (traffic) said in his advisory.

The public works department has closed the old Mandovi bridge on NH-66 connecting Panaji and Porvorim for 15 days to carry out repair works. During this period, vehicular traffic is being diverted on the new Mandovi bridge.

“General public are requested to take note of the same and plan their journey accordingly to avoid delays,” the traffic advisory stated.
