Man, pregnant wife assaulted in Moira parking quarrel
Panaji: A pregnant woman and her husband, a food cart owner, were assaulted in Moira on Monday.
Police said that the altercation began over some parking issue, which escalated into an assault.
The parking issue took place during the day, and the man involved in it told his son about the conflict.
Later that evening, the son went to the food cart and began questioning the owner about the morning incident.
The food cart owner said that the son began using abusive language, and in the heat of the moment, the food cart owner responded in similar language.
The son then called some people and they allegedly assaulted the food cart owner.
“I told them I am pregnant, yet they held my hair and pulled me back. I pleaded with them not to assault my husband, but they didn’t listen to me,” said the wife of the food cart owner.
North Goa SP Rahul Gupta said that the complaint was filed by Shruti Vivek Shirodkar regarding assault and violence by unknown persons.
Mapusa police are working on the case, and have identified the accused persons. Multiple teams have been formed to arrest those involved.
CM Pramod Sawant said that a thorough inquiry would be conducted.
“There are no police personnel involved in the case and if anyone is involved, he will be suspended,” he said.
