Man held for kidnapping, sexually assaulting girl

Margao: Police arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a minor girl from South Goa. The accused, Sunil Pujari, a resident of Odlembhat, Quepem, was apprehended in Hanabaratti, Karnataka, on Wednesday.

The survivor was reported missing on Jan 8 when she disappeared from her residence in Dramapur, South Goa. Following a complaint filed by her father, the Margao town police station launched an investigation using technical surveillance and call monitoring.

A team led by PSI Sameer Goankar, working in coordination with Karnataka’s Nesargi police station, traced the minor and the accused to Hanabaratti.

During subsequent investigations, the survivor revealed to NGO members that she was sexually assaulted multiple times by the accused. The police filed charges under sections of the BNS Act, Goa Children Act, and Pocso Act.
