Maddel & Seraulim get water after two days of disruption
Margao: Residents of Maddel and Seraulim areas experienced relief late on Monday night as the water supply was finally restored following a two-day disruption caused by a damaged underground pipeline.
The problem began on Saturday night when residents first noticed reduced water pressure. Eventually, the supply was completely disrupted. By Sunday morning, the situation worsened as water from the leaking pipeline inundated parts of the Maddel road.
“PWD officials were contacted immediately after we noticed the flooding on Sunday,” said a local. “However, repair work could commence only on Monday morning due to logistical challenges.”
The PWD teams spent most of Monday morning trying to locate the exact point of leakage. The task proved challenging, with workers having to dig at multiple locations before finally identifying the fault.
“Once the location was determined, the team immediately began work on plugging the leak,” local councillor Francis Joanes said.
The disruption severely affected routines in the area, with residents expressing frustration over the delayed response.
Milagres Fernandes, a local, earlier criticised the repair work’s execution, saying that contractors were working without supervision from PWD engineers.
The restoration of water supply comes as a relief to hundreds of households in the affected areas. PWD officials have assured residents that they will monitor the situation to prevent the recurrence of such incidents.
