Lucky escape for three car occupants at Ribandar

PANAJI: After four persons died in a gruesome road accident at Patto in Ribandar a few days ago, another car toppled off the causeway at the same spot in the wee hours of Wednesday, Fortunately, the three occupants of the car had a lucky escape in
this case.
Reginaldo Pereira was returning home to Corlim from his son’s wedding at 2am on Wednesday with two other family members, when his car’s left tyre burst and he lost control of the vehicle.The car, with Reginaldo and two female family members inside, flew off the road and landed on the mud flats below the causeway.
Two policemen from the Old Goa police station, who were on patrolling duty and riding right behind the car, were able to rescue the three victims immediately. The three were shifted to GMC, where they have been kept under observation as one of the women victims appeared to be in a state of shock, police sources said.
Sources said that the vehicle appeared to have been speeding. The car was removed from the mud flat using a crane later in the afternoon. The Old police have registered a case of accident.
