Land use map for Taleigao kept open for feedback

The government had declared in an order dated December 15, 2017, a few planning areas – Panaji, Taleigao, Bambolim, Kadamba and Arpora-Nagoa-Parra. Later, in another order in February, 2018, the villages in these planning areas were brought under the jurisdiction of GPPDA and North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) before stiff opposition forced the government to exclude most of the Tiswadi villages from its purview.

Though the PDA proposal was opposed in Taleigao on the ground that further development plans would affect agricultural land, the panchayat stood by it. Villagers resolved to fight for protection of cultivable land and eco-sensitive zones.

The government has now gone ahead and prepared a land use map and register, which is the preliminary process to draw up an outline development plan (ODP), sources said.

In a public notice in the media, the stakeholders have been informed that copies of the map and register pertaining to part of Taleigao included under GPPDA are available in the authority’s office at Mala for perusal and comment.

“And part of Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) which is part of the Taleigao planning area can be inspected at the CCP office,” the notice states.

“The objections have to be filed within a period of 30 days,” R K Pandita, member secretary, GPPDA stated in the notice.
