Land acquisition for road to Tuem electronic city to be done by April: CM
Porvorim: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that the land acquisition for the four-lane road to connect Tuem electronic city to the national highway would be completed by April. He said that the road would be completed within six months after the land acquisition.
“I will float a tender by April, and by Oct, we will complete the road,” said Sawant. He added that basic facilities are available at the Tuem electronic city.
Stating that 80% of the land was acquired for the road, and only 20% remains to be acquired, Sawant said that he spoke to the landowner, and he has agreed to give his no objection certificate (NOC).
Mandrem MLA Jit Arolkar said that the project started in 2017, and in the last eight years, there is still no connectivity to the Tuem electronic city.
The chief minister said that the Tuem electronic city is important for Pernem and also for the state, and it would be completed. He added that land was allotted to 14 companies to set up their units at Tuem and that three companies showed interest in running a skill development centre there so they can get the required skilled employees at their units.
Sawant said that the acquired land for the four-lane road would be handed over to the ministry of road transport and highways to construct the road.
