K’taka native held for chain snatch in Goa
Calangute: Police in Calangute arrested a man on Thursday who allegedly targetted tourists by snatching their valuables over the last few days. He was wanted in five cases of snatching reported at Calangute police station. Azeez Asif, 32, is a resident of Tumakuru in Karnataka.
Asif has also been involved in thefts in the jurisdiction of Anjuna police. Calangute police described Asif as a habitual offender, noting that his name appears in more than 20 theft cases across Goa and Karnataka. Calangute police arrested him in 2019 and the Saligao and Anjuna police in 2021. An FIR was also filed against him for assaulting a fellow inmate in 2022.
