The team was told that the demolition was ordered by the South Goa collector Valencio Furtado and he was the authority to talk to.
On July 11, the district disaster management authority under the supervision of Furtado demolished about 66 shanties, at the mouth of the sea, which were vulnerable to the monsoon's rising sea water levels.
To avoid the risk of lives and property being washed away, Furtado had ordered the demolition of these illegal shanties.
