PANAJI: KTC drivers and allied employees association have threatened to launch an agitation if their pending demands are not met. This was decided at the association's managing committee meeting held in Panaji, association president Gajanan Naik said.
It was resolved to march to the head office of the state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation (KTC) in Porvorim on September 3 if their demands are not met.
Naik said that the association has demanded payment of salaries for the month of August and also the annual festival allowance on September 1 so that the workers can celebrate Ganesh festival in an appropriate manner.
Ganesh Chaturthi is on September 9.
In a statement issued here, the association said that the golden jubilee bonus of Rs 5000 announced by the state government last year had not been paid to KTC employees.
Naik said that after a long-drawn agitation, the government had agreed to make VI pay commission pay scales to KTC employees and the arrears of the revised pay scales were to be paid in instalments. Though three instalments of arrears are due, no payment has been made so far, Naik said.
He also said that issue of reduction of provident fund contribution still remains unresolved.
