Italy confers prestigious civilian honour on Dempo

Panaji: Italy conferred the Cavaliere dell’Ordine della Stella d’Italia (Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy), a prestigious civilian honour, on industrialist and chairperson of the Dempo Group, Shrinivas Dempo.The honour was officially bestowed on Dempo at a ceremony in Goa by the consul general for Italy in Mumbai, Walter Ferrara.The award was conferred for Dempo’s role in resolving complicated cases involving Italian citizens and investments in the state.Dempo serves as the honorary vice consul of Italy in Goa, and in this role, he intervened with state govt to provide assistance to Italian nationals who were in Goa or travelling through the state. tnn
