Integrated smart transport solutions on the anvil: Min
Panaji: Minister for transport Mauvin Godinho has reviewed a proposal for integrated smart transport solutions, aimed at revolutionising Goa’s public transport system. “Attended my first Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTCL) board meeting… and discussed the proposal for integrated smart transport solutions,” Godinho said. “Aimed at enhancing commuter experience and operational efficiency, this initiative is a major move towards a smarter, more efficient transport system for Goa.”
The initiative will introduce e-ticketing, real-time tracking, enhanced safety measures, and revenue diversification, focusing on improving the commuter experience and operational efficiency. As a result, there will be no more paper tickets, and real-time tracking of buses will ensure punctuality and better safety for passengers.
“To ensure a seamless transition, the entire digital transformation will be implemented across the full KTCL fleet in a single phase. The project will follow a 12-month timeline, starting with preparation and procurement for three months, to finalise tenders and integrate the necessary infrastructure. This will be followed by deployment and integration for six months, during which all equipment—including e-ticketing systems, GPS trackers, and passenger information systems—will be installed, along with comprehensive staff training,” Godinho said.
The final phase will test the system’s reliability, ensuring smooth implementation and real-time monitoring. “The testing and go-live (3 months) phase will ensure system reliability, real-time monitoring, and smooth adoption with passenger feedback mechanisms. This structured approach will help KTCL achieve its goal of providing efficient, tech-driven, and commuter-friendly public transport for Goa,” he added. The digital transformation will roll out across the full Kadamba fleet in a single phase over 12 months, starting with procurement and infrastructure integration, followed by equipment deployment and staff training.
In addition, they will train all the staff so everyone knows how to use the new systems. They will also listen to passengers’ feedback to make sure the system is working effectively.
