Inspection of food processing plant stopped

Ponda: The owner of a plant handling chicken waste at Palaskatta in Mollem stopped a joint inspection team from entering the premises.Vijay Naik, panchayat secretary, said they would file an FIR against the plant owner for obstructing officials from performing their duty. The panchayat planned a joint inspection as it received complaints that the plant was emanating a foul smell. Kapil Naik, a panch member, said the panchayat had given the plant permission to operate as a food processing unit, but of late, the owner started processing chicken waste.
