IMD issues 3-day yellow alert for rain from Monday

Panaji: India Meteorological Department (IMD), Panaji, has issued a yellow alert for March 31, April 1 and 2 due to possibility of scattered to widespread rainfall triggered by influence of a trough and wind confluence over central and adjoining parts of Maharashtra.
The system in lower tropospheric levels is likely to yield rainfall of light to moderate intensity on the western coast in states from Gujarat to Kerala and adjoining areas like Madhya Pradesh.
On Monday, March 31, the rainfall in the state is likely to be scattered and there is a possibility of thunderstorms with winds gusting to 30-40km/hour.
The wind momentum is likely to intensify on two successive days on April 1 and 2 to 40-50km/hour while rain is likely to be fairly widespread. The rainfall may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
This means rainfall in some quantum is likely on the weekend till April 2. IMD, Panaji, has forecast dry weather to likely resume from April 3.
The minimum temperature is likely to hover between 34 and 35 degrees celsius. Shallow to moderate fog is likely in isolated places.
