“Iffi must reflect Goa’s vibrant spirit of celebration and cultural diversity,” Murugan said, urging all parties involved to work closely to elevate the festival to new heights. “It is essential that the festival represents the vast spectrum of languages, cultures, and traditions that make up Indian cinema. From regional films to national blockbusters, Iffi should be a true reflection of India’s cinematic pluralism,” he said.

Murugan also recognised the potential of global media in expanding the festival’s reach, stressing the need for stakeholders to leverage international platforms. “Iffi not only attracts attention from across the globe but also fosters meaningful connections between Indian cinema and global audiences,” he said.

Later in the day, the minister visited all the festival venues in Panaji, including the promenade, Kala Academy, Inox, and D B Ground which will feature the ‘IFFIesta’ entertainment arena.

He also toured the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, where the festival’s opening and closing ceremonies will be held.
