Hope Marathi film industry gets international acclaim: Mrunal Kulkarni

: The tenth edition of the Goa Marathi film festival was inaugurated amidst much fanfare and gusto. Popular faces from the Marathi film industry made an appearance making the ceremony a star studded affair. Veteran actor and director Sachin Pilgaonkar, known for his films in both Marathi and Hindi cinema, was felicitated at the hands of the CM Manohar Parrikar and minister for art and culture,

. “Films are art and there is no Marathi or non-Marathi in art. Art transcends linguistic barriers,” Pilgaonkar said.

Critically acclaimed Marathi stars like Sai Tahmankar, Mrunal Kulkarni, Paresh Mokashi, Gajendra Hire and the like were also seen on stage. Well known for her TV role of Son Pari, actress Mrunal Kulkarni said, “We feel appreciated knowing that Marathi cinema has an audience in Goa. With this love and support, we hope that this industry finds it’s way to international recognition.”
The oganizers also observes a minute of silence for Reema Lagoo who passed away recently. The festival is being held at Inox cinemas and Maquinez Palace till June 18.
