Panaji: The Bombay high court on Thursday rejected Siddiqui alias Suleman Khan’s petition challenging his arrest in multiple land-grabbing cases. Khan had sought to declare his arrest illegal and requested the quashing of remand orders from various police stations including Mapusa, Valpoi, and Old Goa.
Khan argued that his arrest violated constitutional and statutory safeguards, claiming he was not provided written grounds for his arrest. “The arresting authorities failed to comply with constitutional and statutory safeguards and I was not communicated grounds of arrest in writing,” Khan stated in his submission.
